Aston Villa warning sent to Arsenal as Unai Emery seeks double over former club

Aston Villa travel to Arsenal in the Premier League today looking to complete a league double over the Gunners, and Morgan Rogers is confident of doing just that

Aston Villa ace Morgan Rogers has sent a bold message to Arsenal, as Unai Emery's squad aims for another triumph over his old team at the Emirates Stadium today.

Villa, coming off an impressive win against Manchester City, previously secured a 1-0 victory over the Gunners in December, courtesy of a John McGinn goal in the first half. That win propelled Emery's men within a whisker of league leaders Liverpool, fuelling talk of a potential title bid.

Although Villa's form has waned this year, they travel to London with their eyes set on a Champions League spot for the forthcoming season. Currently occupying fourth place, they're edging out Tottenham on goal difference and have a comfortable lead over both Newcastle and Manchester United.

"We've beaten them once, why can't we beat them again? That's how we are going to look at it," declared Rogers. "We're going to go there and try and win the game as we do for every game. Of course it's going to be difficult."

"They are one of the best teams in England, if not the world, so we know it's going to be difficult but we'll go there, try to win the game, and see how it goes."

Villa secured a 2-1 triumph over Lille in the Europa Conference League on Thursday and now face a challenging April with seven matches lined up. The busy schedule is something that Rogers, who signed for Villa from Middlesbrough in January, is looking forward to.

"I love them. I'm in this sport to play games and the quicker the better for me I'm really enjoying them at the moment," he said. "It's exactly the same in the Championship every week, so it's no different to what I experienced in the first half of the season. It's just following on from there really."

Arsenal, meanwhile, are on a quest for Premier League glory. Under Mikel Arteta's leadership, they've clinched 10 wins in their last 11 league games and are poised to reclaim the top spot with another win.

Not only are they competing domestically, but the Gunners also have their sights set on Champions League success, as they prepare for a crucial match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday, with all to play for in the tie.

Ahead of the match against Villa, Arteta expressed: "It's really good (the momentum) and we want to carry on going. It's the most beautiful part of the season coming up right now and a very busy schedule. We're going to have a really tough [game] against a really good side, and are we going to have to be really good to beat them."
