Following humiliating defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City, Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly "shocked" by the drop in standards at Manchester United since his first stint at the club.

The Portuguese forward returned to the Red Devils in August after 12 years away from the club that he first represented between 2003 and 2009.

During his first spell at Old Trafford, Ronaldo played in a side that went on to win nine titles across all competitions, including three Premier League trophies and the UEFA Champions League.

According to the Daily Mail, however, he is said to have found himself stumped by how much the standards have dropped at the club and is becoming annoyed by the team's poor run of form.

Following their 2-0 loss to Pep Guardiola's City on Saturday afternoon, the ex-striker insisted he has "good communication with the club. I want the best for United and as long as I'm here I want to do everything I can to improve this."

Ronaldo has scored nine goals in 12 appearances so far for United this season, with four of those strikes coming in the Premier League.
