Wrexham have secured back-to-back promotions in spectacular fashion with a 6-0 thrashing of Forest Green Rovers.

Elliot Lee kicked off the scoring, followed by two goals from Paul Mullin, either side of an own goal by Ryan Inniss, as Wrexham stormed to a four-goal lead before half-time. Ryan Barnett and Jack Marriott added to the tally in the second half.

The victory, coupled with results elsewhere, confirmed Wrexham's place in League One next season, while the defeat leaves Forest Green at the bottom of the table and facing the threat of relegation from the Football League.

Lee's opening goal came after a corner led to a chaotic scramble in front of goal, with Mullin's header being blocked before Lee found the net.

Just six minutes later, last season's National League champions doubled their lead. Lee was once again involved, setting up James McClean who found Mullin at the back post for his 24th goal of the season.

Wrexham's dominance continued with a third goal coming from defender Eoghan O'Connell's long-range shot, which took a cruel deflection off Inniss, leaving goalkeeper Vicente Reyes stranded.

Mullin added a fourth for Wrexham just before half-time. A corner was only partially cleared, falling to the unmarked striker on the edge of the area whose shot deflected into the goal.

Barnett joined the scoring party in the second half with a stunning volley from McClean's cross, taking the score to 5-0.

Marriott rounded off the scoring with six minutes to spare, allowing Wrexham and their Hollywood star owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds to celebrate another promotion.

Wrexham are second in League Two and face Stockport County, who were also promoted on Saturday, on the final day of the season.
