Manchester United 'contact' ex-Man City defender and other transfer rumours

Man United manager Erik ten Hag will be looking to strengthen his defence in the summer transfer window with Raphael Varane seemingly set to leave

by · Manchester Evening News

Manchester United and Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly contacted former Manchester City defender and current Fulham star Tosin Adarabioyo over a summer transfer.

The 26-year-old left the Etihad Stadium in 2020 as he searched for regular game time. He has since found that at Craven Cottage and is now indispensable in Marco Silva's side.

However, he is out of the contract at the end of this season and is thus available to sign a pre-contract agreement with any team he wishes. This has caught the attention of United, according to TEAMtalk who are on the lookout for bargain transfers to help bolster their squad.

Erik ten Hag is expected to be looking to improve his defence in the summer with the likes of Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans facing uncertain futures beyond this season. It is understood West Ham are also thought to be keen on Adarabioyo but United and Spurs are currently best placed to complete a deal.

Elsewhere, United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka continues to be linked with a transfer to Serie A leaders Inter. Gazzetta dello Sport understands the Milan club are bracing themselves for Denzel Dumfries' departure in the summer having failed to agree on terms of a contract extension for the Dutchman.

Should the worst happen and Dumfries decides he wants to leave the San Siro, Inter are poised to move for Wan-Bissaka. It is understood by the Italian media outlet that the 26-year-old could be signed for as little as £13m in the summer despite working his way back into Ten Hag's plans this season.
